Overthinking

  1. Smol,

I do overthink. My colleague send this link. When I see it I say I won't employ the second person too because googling it will be much faster.

Then I got suan by my. Boss that google dun provide the right answer and we must think for ourselves.

But I think a lot of people dun understand there is a lot of ways to verify an information through google. Look for other buildings with similar storeys etc.

But most important, I think it's ridiculously low EQ to leave your future employer or interviewer to calculate ratios outside building.

    I think I overthink ...

But I think people think too simply

    1. Smol,

Overthink and Bei kambing, simple and parrot are all just a line apart.

    2. Sillyinvestor,

      1. Reliance on rote memory - once upon a time useful; now not so when information readily available. Hence now our MOE education is moving towards "creative" thinking. That's why graduate parents send their kids to tuition as their As gotten through rote memory now not so useful in explaining grey possible solutions rather black and white ansswers ;)

      2. The ability to figure things out for yourself - the 2nd candidate is of course a much better candidate! A good chess piece is a good chess piece!

      3. You and I got read Spring Autumn and Three Kingdoms. The person who can leverage on Other People's Time/Talent is better ;)

That's what you have done by "googling". Shhh....

You boss has an "agenda" for showing you this clip. You should know better...

It's low EQ to let your boss know you are smarter than him. If it were me, I would say,

"Boss! What an eye opener! No wonder you the boss! Now I see the light! You remember that time during the meeting and everyone of us were stumped... And you came up with the process for the solution? Ah! Now I see what you've done..."

How? Lucky you don't have me as your colleague! I'll become the Principal, make you do all the work, and I'll take the credit :)

      Ar ber then?

      LOL!

  2. Overthinking may be lesser evil than think too simply. It is how some people fell into investment scams due to simplistic thinking

    1. CW,

      Don't fight it.

You are becoming more and more grasshopper ;)

One day you'll find yourself doing things and making decisions with NO MIND.

Hungry eat; tired rest. (No thinking neeeded)

      LOL!

    1. Ben,

I suspect some people couldn't accet the word "simple".

Especially when they have spent years and lots of money acquiring multiple degrees... They bask in the "complex" to justify the effort spent.

No problem. We just switch "simplicity" with "elegant" and problem solved!

I've yet to find anyone who has problem with an "elegant" solution :)

    1. Macroanalyst,

      Tell me about it.

2 days up, 1 day down; 2 days down, 1 day up.

Great for intraday traders; not for trend follwers.

I've forgotten when was the last time we had a 10% move?

I'm beginning to miss Jan 2016...

      LOL!

  7. Hi SMOL,

Take a deep breath. The inhaling and exhaling process takes the trouble away.
