HK con men use romance and get-rich schemes to trick victims in Singapore

I don't normally do Public Service Announcements.

I'm not a bleeding heart.

Then again, if someone else has done the heavy lifting, I wouldn't mind help create more awareness for it.

Hong Kong online stocks con men use romance, get-rich-quick schemes to trick victims in Singapore, Macau

There are too many scams in Singapore nowadays.

Let's help to keep a lid on it.

The last thing we need is for scammers of the world to think Singaporeans are an easy mark...

Just promise the moon and bei kambing Singaporeans will believe anything and everything!

  1. Smol,

Lol! Instead of get rich quick, should psycho more sinkies into putting their cash into CPF. Better than DBS! No bluff one! 🤣

It's always a nice feeling when CPF Life is well funded! Kekeke!

    1. Spur,

I see what you did there ;)

      You har!

Then again, must give kudos to big daddy. They see far into the future, saw what's coming, and was decisive to switch from:

      My money is my money

      To:

A small part of my money now also belongs to those who outlive me ;)

      Boiling frog slowly?

      They're good!

  2. Similar to those courses that the trainer made $2 million in a month trading leh.
Same same but different. Each selling get rich quick scheme.
Heh. Who so nice to teach you how to make money.
Got good lobang, confirm keep for ownself.

Although I wonder why the guy in the article called himself a savvy investor. If dunno how to read financial statements, cannot be called savvy investor leh.
Lose money is ok, maybe calculate valuation wrongly.
But to lose 85% of capital... means never even do any form of valuation analysis.

    1. ERSG,

Nowadays there's so many "soft porn" scams everywhere - technically they are not against the law ones. Its willing buyer; willing seller.

That includes get rich investing/trading seminars/workshops/courses.

E-commerce and what not online business. Look! Even IT dinosaur also can! If I can do it, you can also! (yeah, right)

Prosperity religious cults. This one damn hard to clamp down least you get accused of prosecuting religion...

There's one from Australia former Chinaman that most Buddhist Federations have publicly announced got nothing to do with Buddhism, yet still got Singaporeans believe otherwise???

Anyone who got a rudimentary understanding of Buddhism can also tell, but I guess his snake oil skill power! (Or his followers have big holes in their hearts)

Remember when I succeed, its pure skill and talent.

And when others succeed, its just pure dumb luck?

Well, I suspect the guy in the article got "lucky" in his past investments and consider that skill and talent...

Its the same reason why I see myself as "handsome" in the mirror ;)

      LOL!

Yalor! You and your psychedelic charts :)

First time I saw them, I was thinking to myself is this woman on "medicinal stimulants"?

I do miss true blue trading bloggers like you, coconut, and Fat.

We can do with more traders at this watering hole ;)

      Why?

      Because we are sexy.

      And we know it!

      LOL!

  4. Hi Smol

Makes me wonder if the more educated one gets, the more loneliness one is.

    1. Small Time Investor,

You smart. You don't say it out loud. I'll say it then.

I don't see a problem the more educated a man gets; its more an issue with women who are more educated than her peers...

Do you remember the famous Q&A session between lao lee and that 27 years young female PHD student?

Lao lee was being grandfatherly kind when he suggested maybe its better for her to focus on finding a boyfriend first than pursue her PHD...

Not even a whimper from feminists. Then again, who dares to talk back to lao lee?

Success is what we have to sacrifice to achieve it.

Life is a series of decision making points.

If career is more important, so be it.

If family comes first, happy can oredi!

If a woman does not want to depend on man, all the power to her!

And if a man wants to "eat soft rice" and be taken care of by his wife, who are we to judge?

      At least he can!

      I?

I offer myself free I don't think any women would be interested :(

    2. Hi SMOL,

You remind me of a tale of 2 ladies.

One is my ex-boss who went all-in on her career. She has to emphasize to the team that when she's on leave, she's still doing work from home. Ever the hardworker.

The other lady is also my ex-boss. She shared before that she secured her husband early on as there is a limited window of opportunity for ladies. Career? It can come later. She shared that she will be teaching her daughter the same thing. The best time to find a high quality guy is when you intermingle with other esteemed faculties in university.

What's after motherhood? Keeping oneself in shape and, if need be, writing a book about the travails of a kept woman and selling it to their educated but clueless female friends like the former. ;) Savage burn.

    3. Unintelligent Nerd,

We can see the savage burns women do to other women in palace dramas and literature ;)

The rich tai tais are probably bemused with the feminist movement.

Not when their old ox are toiling in the fields so they can have high teas with their kakis.

What? You want us to join our old ox in the fields? No thank you!

Sorry, I'm not interested in diversity in the boardroom.

      Its OK girl.

You prefer to work; I prefer to shop ;)

  5. "There are too many scams in Singapore nowadays."?

Scams or "Helps" or "Kindness" or "Giving Back" are pushed right in front of our computer or mobile phone screen. The Hole in the heart open wider. Kena liao! Blame Technology! LOL!

    1. CW,

Last time, scams must use face to face.

Now indeed surf on mobile and PCs we get lots of ads popping onto our faces.

      Even SAVE MORE got scams...

What don't put money in banks? "Grow" money by cashback plans??? All of sudden so many ads of these kinds in Youtube...

Remember Lehman mini-bonds? Its not a scam technically. The way it was sold however was "questionable"...

Victims honestly thought they were switching onto better yielding SAVINGS products without realising there's a hidden risk in 100% loss of capital...

If there's a risk of loss to capital, then its not a SAVE MORE product!!! Hello!

What to do when nation building bank also got their hands dirtied? Big daddy had to step in to make things right...

If banks did noting wrong, why the need to provide refunds?

      Crash got sound.

Now banks and brokers make sure you sign that you have understood all the risks and take all the necessary tests (cover backside), and if you acknowledge you are an accredited investor - then sorry hor, you're on your own!

That's why in recent years, even there were quite a few high profile bond defaults, big daddy no longer need to bail-out anyone.

You can scream at Hong Lim Park all you want!

Not happy sue for misrepresentation lor. That's if anyone wishes to throw good money after bad money...
