The Grass Will Always Be Greener On The Other Side

  1. Hi SMOL,

I heard this greener grass on the other side thingy, and the best one that i like is this one:

"The grass is greener on the other side, because there's more shit over there"

    LOL

    1. LP,

      LOL! That's a good one!

I'm sure there must be those who "envy" how much a home tutor or sales perosn can earn.

Cross over to our side and they'll learn pretty fast how much shit we take to help us grow!

      Ha ha!

  3. Can we frame it to another context such that
"Is grass greener on the other side? I am not sure but why not give it a try. It might really be. I won't know if I don't try it. If it's not greener, move on to another grass. If It is greener and I need to find a greener grass, continue to explore."

    1. Blursotong King,

You mean crash got sound? LOL!

Very interesting philosophical question you asked!

By the way, the scenario you described was my job-hopping crash got sound until I finally found IKEA at age 30 ;)

Continuous improvement is NOT looking at the grass of the other side but constantly improving the grass at our side of the fence. The motivation comes from within.

An adventurous spirit is not caring about grass for you are curious what's on the other side... You prefer walking on grass than growing grass.

    2. SMOL,

What I said will also be applicable to stock. If after looking at FA and TA indicators say let's say it's a good entry price, just buy it. If another stock comes along and has an even better FA, TA and entry price, just buy it too. Not all will turn up fine. Some will turn up as loses and some will give surprises. Investment is more luck than skill and the need to calculate the odds. But sitting still on one stock and trying to fatten it and hope that it will make you rich? Risky isn't it? I know Uncle fisherman will disagree becos he trades around the core.

    3. Blursotong King,

You're talking to the holistic, citizen of the word, man-whore ;)

      That's why I can't get married...

      LOL!

No lah! That's me being Ah Q.

I'm single because she married someone else :(

Flexibility in investing/trading is a very underrated attribute.

What works today may not work tomorrow.

I've seen quite a few famous and competent hedge fund managers deciding to retire and return money back to investors in recent years.

They find it hard adapt to this new ear of central banks money printing where good news is bad news, and bad news is good news!?

      Very humbling.

I hope I am flexible enough to adapt and learn new vehicles and strategies for the next 50 years!

    4. Hi SMOL,

You still in touch with "her" who married someone else? I believe that she must be the special one whom you decided to stay single.

    5. Ben,

No. We not in contact with each other anymore.

      She is indeed special.

She helped me learn something about myself; I won't make a good husband.

      I'm too "free-spirited"!

    That's the way to go.

    1. Ben,

When one is content (I have enough), its that much harder to be led wayward by jealousy and envy ;)

    2. Contented or lazy will like to look at the other side where got greener?

Same as investing is local stock market. Overseas market look greener. Must put some money there.

    3. CW,

Ah! Sneaky! I see what you do there ;)

No, the contented ones just care there is grass - snow is water. What colour does not matter.

Agree 100% to what you've said - the lazy ones are those who will look at the other side and shrug, "Where got greener?"

      Hee, hee.

I like this version I heard. The grass is greener on the other side. It's ok, I don't eat grass

Its nice to know that when it comes to platitudes, there are creatives out there who will "push back" with witty pokes like the one you've shared ;)

  6. If you start to look at your neighbours's grass, of course some will be greener.

That's how i have been lured or inspired to plunge into the stock markets lor.

  7. LOL!

So that must be why in Turkey, everywhere you go, they try to sell you(TOURISTS) the "EVIL EYES".

You can always see things in the light or in the the dark.

God or the "Unseen Force" allows you to choose one.

    LOL.

They sell the "evil eyes" in Athens too.

Greece being part of the former Ottomen Empire.

I'm lucky in the sense I've never seen or experienced anything "supernatural".

I would like to keep it that way ;)

  8. Sorry,

i mean you look at your neighbour's grass, you can choose to be envy with evil thoughts or you can choose to learn how to make your grass greener like your neighbour's.

If you can't just be contented lor.

That's why we say attitude determines our outlook on life ;)

Two men looks out the window.

one sees the muddy field; the other sees the sky.
