Saying the right thing at the right time

  1. Nice story! :)

A light-hearted way to show the importance of choosing our words wisely when we speak. Politicians are probably experts at this.

    1. Hello Dividend Knight,

Welcome to the community of blogging!

Ah! Saying the right words at the right time is indeed important!

If nothing else, it can help us win friends and influence people. And do wonders to our corporate careers ;)

Having said that, I've put my foot in my mouth more times than I care to remember...

Tip: Never joke about a girl's weight no matter how close you are!

    2. Hi SMOL

This is a skill I will learn forever. I speak my mind most often.

    3. Frugal Daddy,

Don't you dare speak your mind!

      Must hypnotise ourselves to say:

"Yes dear, love your new hairdo!"

"New dress? Its so you! Come, turn around and let me see!"

      LOL!

    5. Frugal Daddy,

I am not the leader type.

That's why I took away "followers" and changed it to "journey companions".

Some revel in the pipe piper role; I don't.

I prefer to make merry with people who don't take themselves too seriously.

Having fun in the here and now is the best hedge against what if tomorrow never comes ;)

  2. Hi SMOL,

I've a different take. He didn't say the right thing at the right time. I believe he is doing the right thing ALL the time and it's just coincidental that his wife came to listen to the right thing at the right time.

Thinking the right thing all the time makes it easy to say the right things to the right people at the right time ;)

    1. I have actually tried to think the "right thing" few years back for like a year? Then i realised I am just trying to be someone who the philosopher wanted us to. haha. Not quite real.

    2. LOL, SMOL,

I have to agree with LP on that.

You cannot expect to lie(pretend) your way through when you are dead drunk if you always linger that fling.

If he is drunk and he is faithful, where got chance when all his defense mechanism is up when sober.

That's why I always simply smile when people say they wouldn't cheat.

I said I have passed the age looking for excitement, and my introvert self find it hard to pick someone up and get people interested.

In my line, no one throws themselves at me, and I dun spend time socializing.. so my chance of infidelity is low to nil

But I can only promise you that I can hold myself when my "dream girl" strip naked in front of me and I left the room intact...

To put it very bluntly during the reservist conversation, I told my friends who say they WILL (future tense) cheat, that wait till the blood from the brain rush to the c** and then you say no, then you know you won't change... LOL

    3. Hello LP and Sillyinvestor,,

That's why the story is so funny!

99% of guys will go "Yeah, baby yeah!" when a girl is taking off out pants - at least I would!

Yup, most of us are like the lazy students of LP - "Don't worry cher. During exams I'll show the workings."

      Yeah right...

    4. Frugal Daddy,

You've brought up an interesting point!

What if we substitute philosopher with religious shepherd?

Reading the goals of financial bloggers, you would think most are either not religious or subscribe to the prosperity gospel...

Since greed or avarice is a sin, we cleverly substitute it with words like financial freedom, independence, etc.

C'mom! Let's call it what it is - The Pursuit of Money!

Took me some years before I managed to square the circle... You know, the "letting go" of Buddhism and the the "non-action" of Taoism...

Make a guess why I no financial goals?

How do we put a goal on happiness?

  4. temperament,

But then, isn't what you've said LPPL?

If no one is pure in thoughts so how did the man said what he said?

    Shh...

  5. Ah so!

What we think and do - when we assume no one is looking - now that's the real us.

    Oh boy, I real ugly...

  6. Don't know why, I all of sudden is recalling the stories of King Solomon - and his 700 wives and 300 concubines.

    Now that's what I call a harem!

  7. Missed the interesting conversation between U and uncle temperament!

Battle in the mind! If we take that into consideration, I also real ugly. LOL

AT LEAST the battle is won on the realm of actions.

Just make sure there is some defense at the realm of the mind too and not let it surrender without a fight, because action is a subset of mind...

    Defense start at the mind...

    1. Sillyinvestor,

In mediation, we don't "suppress" straying thoughts.

      Distractions come; distractions go.

      Breath in; breath out.
