George Carlin - Euphemisms

Behind the humour, it shows the little lies we tell ourselves everyday, and the bull-shit we take from others.

Yes, I bull-shit myself by calling myself 46 years young. Who am I kidding?

Thank goodness the bull-shit of "ponding" was quickly thrown out!

Unfortunately, other extremes of political correctness have gone a bit overboard and is now common language... Visually challenged. Hearing impaired. What's that? I think I'll stick with the biblical versions.

Same goes for "investors" who care more about labelling and the nouns they call themselves, as if the unrealised losses will go away just by lying to ourselves.

It's never the nouns, its always about the adjectives:

Profitable or money losing

Good or lousy

Smart or clueless

Good friends are those who will call a spade a spade in your face. Treasure them!

  1. Good friends love Maths.

We can't get full marks for giving the right answers.

We have to show the working to the right answers to get Full Marks!

    Right?

  2. So why people practise Euphemisms?
    For what? For whom?
Not all Euphemisms are for cover ups or bad intention.

But SMOL is correct. When it's time to call a spade, a spade even at the risk of losing a good friend; just do it.

    1. Euphemisms are words from the brain to people we don't really care, but we don't want to hurt...

For people we care, we use harsh direct words but its said with love from the heart:

      "You stupid woman..."

      "You silly old man...."

  3. You don't lose when you lose fake friends. There is a saying, "A man is not called wise because he talks and talks again, but if he is peaceful, loving and fearless then he is in truth called wise.". And also, "Three things cannot hide for long : the Moon, the Sun and the Truth.".

  4. So sorry.
The Moon and the Sun you can not hide long but the the truth may never be told. It has become a legend. That's where the legend comes from.
Because when he dies, the truth dies with him.

    But what about JESUS?
Is it the TRUTH or just a LEGEND?
    Shalom
    Amen.

  5. Someone's "truth" is another person's "legend" - depending whether you ask followers of the Star, Cross, or Crescent.

And if children of the same father can't agree on the "truth", what more if you ask heathens?

What is the truth? The truth is:

I've been to paradise.. but I've never been to me...

Sometimes I've been to crying for unborn children that might have made me complete...

    2. Inflation in titles...

Reminds of the 4 bananas in the morning and 3 bananas in the evening monkey story ;)

During my NS time in 87, sergeant is a powderful rank. There is only staff sergeant and warrant officer above it.

Now, I see sergeants everywhere... Even in the police force!?

The rank of sergeant has become like the label of millionaire in some of our surrounding neighbouring countries - no meaning.

Euphemisms and inflation of job titles are some of the ways puppet masters put carrots in front of us.

      I am:

Housekeeping Manager - I got clean the house you know!
Sourcing Manager - I do marketing in the wet market OK?
Entertainment Manager - Eh... OK, I lie. That's what married people do

      LOL!

coconut you are cute. You seems to imply putting a bullet into someone's head is better and alright?
Jeese got respect and many people who believed in him. And yet in the end he couldn't take it anymore. Why?

    5. even though he says that no one can beat the market but deep inside, he feels that the market owes him something i guess. or what else can it be?

  8. Yes you are right i think. Some people just can't take it anymore( aka suicide) when they can not perform as usual due to age or anything.

Luckily nowadays there is Viaga or just cannot imagine how many more DOMs become IMH's clients . Now don't laugh at me. you will reach my age only a matter of time.
